Blockers Review - 2½ Stars
In "Blockers," three anxious parents chase their daughters on prom night, determined to prevent them from losing their virginity. The parents are played to great effect by Leslie Mann, John Cena, and Ike Barinholtz. Of course, you can guess the kids are all right and the parents need to let go. The daughters are led by exuberant Kathryn Newton and her best friends Geraldine Viswanathan and Gideon Adlon. I'll be interested to see what these young actresses do next. The sitcom plot gets a boost from rapid-fire dialog, which especially showcases Leslie Mann's comic appeal. "Blockers" races to a fast and funny, if not particularly surprising conclusion. "Blockers," 2½ stars, rated "R." Does it deliver what it promises? R-rated gross-out comedy, including a scene of "butt-chugging." Is it entertaining? Fast and funny. Is it worth the price of admission? For laughs.
