Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Review - 2½ Stars
The fourth in the series based on the 1960’s cutting edge tv series. IN this fourth episode they appear to try really really hard to make things exciting—but they try so hard that sometimes the movie feels like an action movie parody. Tom Cruise looks buff and thin and in great shape as he joins with Paula Patton and Simon Pegg for an adventure that takes them to the Kremlin, Dubai, and Mumbai. The high point of the action comes when Cruise climbs outside the world’s tallest building (Burj Khalifa in Dubai.) I admit my palms sweated and my stomach twitched. Jeremy Renner joins the cast as an analyst who left the field because of a mission gone sour. The plot defies explanation—let’s just say the Kremlin blows up, the U.S. gets blamed, a bad guy wants to nuke the world, and Tom and company stop it but just barely in the nick of time. Action junkies will love this adventure. As for me, it feels like a lot more of the same old same old. Does it deliver what it promises? Action and adventure. Is it entertaining? Some breathtaking scenes but runs very long. is it worth the price of admission? For action junkies.
