Goon Review - 3 Stars
Sean William Scott, immortalized as Stiffler in the “American Pie” series, finds a wonderful new character in this study of a hockey player, recruited to fill the role of the guy they send out to beat up on the other team and spend the rest of the game in the penalty box. Scott plays an innocent, the adopted son of a doctor whose adopted brother follows the family business. Scott can do no better than a job as a bouncer. One night a hockey player, enraged by Scott’s comments, comes after him in the stands, and our hero’s new career is born. On the road, Scott finds romance and himself. Scott also finds a great character in this sweet dumb goon. “Goon” is available on demand and in a few theaters. Does it deliver what it promises? Hockey comedy. Is it entertaining? Hilarious. Is it worth the price of admission? Demand this one.
