A comedy about pregnancy and parenthood told in the style of “Valentine’s Day” and “Think like a Man”–“What to Expect when you’re Expecting” assembles a large likable cast including Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks and Anna Kendrick paired with Matthew Morrison, Rodrigo Santoro, Ben Falcone, and Chace Crawford. Some get pregnant accidentally, others after fertility treatments, still others turn to adoption. The multiple stories make the movie feel long. The addition of a Greek Chorus of fathers led by Chris Rock adds humor, but other bits feel like discarded sitcom material. Some of you, especially the expectant, will find this delightful. Others not so much. As for me, I’d say don’t expect much from “What to Expect when you’re Expecting. ” Does it deliver what it promises? Comedy but not quite as good as expected. Is it entertaining? Uneven. Is it worth the price of admission? A Mixed effort.
