The Impossible Review - 1 Star
Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor play vacationers in Thailand separated and swept away with their children by the 2004 tsunami. The special effects recreate the event with stunning realism. Without warning an awesome wall of water comes out of nowhere with frightening strength. Watts and McGregor play a well to do British couple. Their painful struggle plays out while we receive no indication of how others on the island cope, especially Thai natives. The story is quite incredible but difficult to watch, exhausting really and doesn’t go much beyond the event, the separation, and the reunion. Does it deliver what it promises? Hard to watch recreation of a natural disaster. Is it entertaining? Very hard to watch. Is it worth the price of admission? No.
