The Host Review - 1 Star
Writer Stephanie Meyer created “Twilight” which turned into one of Hollywood’s biggest film series ever. So the industry has high hopes for her follow up book “the Host”. The trailers look great—a future world where aliens arrive and take over our human bodies and spirits. Everyone drives slow, speaks politely, stops polluting, and warmongering. Naturally a resistance to this too perfect existence springs up. Irish actress Saiorce Ronan gets taken but fights within — leading to a lot of interior conversations which turn silly fast. The alien inside her falls for one guy while the old human likes another — thus a “Twilight” love triangle develops. The sets look cheesy and some of the plot twists actually made the audience laugh out loud. Sorry but I think “The Host” is toast. Does it deliver what it promises? Twilight it ain't. Is it entertaining? Silly. Is it worth the price of admission? A clunker.
