Red 2 Review - 2 Stars
Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich return for another installment of the over the hill CIA spies called back into service because of a crisis only they can solve. This episode involves a rogue nuke and scientist Anthony Hopkins as well as the relationship troubles of Willis and his civilian girlfriend played by the delightful Mary Louise Parker. The original made a lot of money and had a bit of inspiration. This sequel feels by the numbers and the actors don’t look like they’re really into it. RED2 features a lot of firepower, multiple shoot outs, a few comic lines, and several global locations. Maybe it’s time for RED to really retire. Does it deliver what it promises? By the numbers spy comedy. Is it entertaining? Lifeless. Is it worth the price of admission? This will be on cable very very soon.
