Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Review - 3 Stars
Rest easy Ron Burgundy fans. Will Ferrell and his friends have created a fitting sequel to the beloved story of a clueless downright dumb 1970’s TV news reader. The new story begins in the 80’s–as Will gets fired from a network while his wife Christina Applegate gets elevated to the network chair. As Ron Burgundy, Ferrell dives into a deep depression but comes out when the emerging world of 24 hour cable tv comes calling. Assembling the old team (Davie Koechner, Paul Rudd and Steve Carroll) the guys take the graveyard spot and hit pay dirt when they elect to report cute animal stories, patriotic happenings and car chases. A key scene has Ron wondering “Why give people what they need, but rather give them what they want.” It’s funny and also a cutting satire on TV news today. “Anchorman 2” runs almost two hours but most of it is fun and funny. It pokes fun at authority, dumb wrong-headed authority, and we sure have a lot of that these days don’t we? Does it deliver what it promises? Comedy about cable TV News. Is it entertaining? Plenty to laugh at and about. is it worth the price of admission? For sure.
