I, Tonya Review - 4 Stars

Maybe you remember Tonya Harding, the Olympic ice skater from the wrong side of the tracks. Life dealt her one hard knock after another, including an abusive mother, money problems, husband problems, and a circle of friends so dumb, they decide to kneecap Tonya's competition (Nancy Kerrigan.) Maybe you remember the footage of Kerrigan wailing, "Why? Why?" after Harding's not- so-bright husband Jeff Gillooly hires a pal to do the kneecapping. "I, Tonya" never lets us know if Tonya was in on it. It's enough to imply she just couldn't get a break. As Tonya, Margot Robbie is convincing and even thrilling as an Olympic level skater. She's also convincing as a tough cookie, who keeps coming back for more. "I, Tonya" dares you to look away. It knocked me off my socks. "I, Tonya," 4 stars, rated "R." Does it deliver what it promises? Compelling reality story. Is it entertaining? Never let's up. Is it worth the price of admission? One of the year's best.
