Four African American Vietnam vets return to honor their squad leader who died there, and to claim a fortune in buried gold. Spike Lee puts his stamp on this story, taking his time introducing us to the main characters, played by a stellar cast including the late Chadwick Boseman and an award worthy Delroy Lindo. "Da Five Bloods" explores many of the same themes of previous Viet Nam vet stories. I found a lot of it slow going and as with many of Spike Lee films, a little too long. The plot wanders, however, Delroy Lindo rises above everything providing some moments that literally raise the hair on the back of your neck.
