Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar goes all in on silly comedy thanks to over the top performances by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. Viewers who don't recognize Mumolo should know she co-wrote Bridesmaids with Wiig, one of the best comedies of the last decade. The two play middle aged friends living together, fused together, doing everything together. Losing the job they love at a franchise furniture store, they hear about a resort in Florida, where they simply must go. Once there, they encounter a super villain scheming to wipe Vista Del Mar off the map to avenge a child hood slight, and her henchman played by 50 Shades hunk Jamie Dornan. Barb and Star isn't about the plot so much as the joke a second vibe, one of the best I can remember since Airplane!. Like that comedy, not all the jokes land, but enough to make this fun. I watched on Hulu and could only imagine Barb and Star in the days before 2020, when a hyped up crowd would rattle the walls with laughter. Serious types will want to take a pass for this is anything for a laugh. Most of it's great fun.
