Benedict Cumberbatch has great fun in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain as a turn of the century illustrator. Louis Wain lives the life of the kind of British eccentric movies seem to love. Living with his quirky family full of spinsters, Cumberbatch as Louis Wain meets the love of his life, when Clair Foy arrives as a governess. The spinsters do not approve, but Wain marries anyway. The couple adopts a stray kitten, inspiring Wain to produce a series of cat drawings. In the process his drawings turn cats into popular house pets. The Electrical Life of Louis Wain looks as psychedelic as Wain's drawings. By no means great, it offers fun and an unusual true story.
