Flamin' Hot refers to the spicy flavored Cheetos manufactured by Frito-Lay. Jesse Garcia plays Richard Montane, a former gang member gone straight working as a janitor at a Frito-Lay plant. Drawing on his heritage and love of spicy food, he knows in his heart that a hot and spicy version of Cheetos will sell. In rags to riches tradition, he calls the company President, and talks him into it. Tony Shalhoub adds a nice touch as the CEO who listens to the idea and ultimately promotes the janitor. Flamin' Hot has fun with this American dream of a story. Directed by Eva Longoria, the movie rolls out in straightforward no frills style. Recent reporting indicates it may not have happened this way, but the result is so much fun that if it didn't happen, it should have happened, and could have happened. I think the spicy Cheetos flavor comes from a lab and not Richard's kitchen, but that's just a hunch. I don't really like them because they taste like chemicals to me. Just saying.
