Demi Moore begins The Substance as an aging Jane Fonda style fitness guru. Fearing for her job and lifestyle as she ages, she turns to "The Substance" - a futuristic drug that allows a younger version of Demi to emerge. Rules of The Substance demand Demi and her younger self switch places every week. Margaret Qualley, as the newer younger women, selfishly refuses to play by the rules. And then the horror begins. I liked the idea of The Substance as it begins, but the final moments go so far over the top, viewers can only laugh and scream in disgust. Thanks, but no thanks.
